Radioactive Wolves Of Chernobyl Scary Mutations - Full Documentary
The following article entails a review and rough synopsis of the PBS movie 'Radioactive Wolves'.
German Filmmakers and scientists come into the Chernobyl area to document the lives of the packs of wolves. These German scientists 'start' the animal research studies and then turn it over to the Belarus and Ukranian scientists so that they can continue these scientific 'studies'.
WHY WERE THERE NO LONG TERM SCIENTIFIC ANIMAL, INSECT, PLANT OR MICROBIAL STUDIES DONE AROUND CHERNOBYL BEFORE THIS LATE DATE WHEN THE MOVIE WAS MADE?
The critical question is; why were there no animal, fish, bird or insect studies done from 1986 to now? What happened to all of these Russian scientists and researchers, biologists and scientists? Where did they all go? Where is the nuclear industry? Why aren't the nuclear companies sponsoring research to find out what happens in the exclusion zone, when a reactor goes AWOL?
PRIPIAT RIVER CARRIES RADIATION DOWNSTREAM, BUT THERE IS NO MENTION OF WHERE THIS RADIATION GOES; INTO FISH, INTO PEOPLE, INTO PLANTS, ETC..
The researchers mention that the Pripiat River carries lots of radiation downstream. This makes sense; as any river in a highly contaminated radioactive zone would also be radioactively contaminated. There was no mention of how MUCH radiation was in the river sediment, as if did not matter at all.
Then they fail to connect the dots and say what negative effect this radiation in the river has on people and animals or plants who live downstream or in the river along with this radiation. Radiation, whether it is in a river or in a forest, or in a meadow, does have an effect. Radiation does move up and concentrate up the food chain to animals and people.
Once more, an opportunity is lost to educate people about the dangers of low level radiation spreading out of the exclusion zone, via flowing water. Why avoid the whole subject? Why not go into it and explore this whole subject of radiation in river water, fish and downstream populations and test where the radiation is concentrating up the food chain?
MOOSE BONES TESTED AND RESEARCHERS FIND ELEVATED RADIATION LEVEL, BUT WITH NO SPECIFICS, SO NO ONE CAN JUDGE WHAT THIS MEANS
The researchers then test moose bones on the bank of the river and find that they are contaminated with radiation that is '50' times normal levels. (Too bad that they did not mention the actual radiation levels or the type of radiation that they found, because it makes it sound like this is no big deal.) This does serve as proof that radiation is concentrating up the food chain, although they make no mention of this.
WHAT KIND OF RADIATION DETECTOR WAS USED, AND HOW SENSITIVE WAS IT? WHAT WAS BEING MEASURED? CESIUM, STRONTIUM, PLUTONIUM, OR ?????
They did not even say what kind of radiation detector they had, or what kind of radiation they were measuring. Was it alpha, beta, gamma or something else entirely, like neutron beams? Again, lots of useless information that means absolutely nothing. This segment provides no helpful information for people to learn something useful about radiation.
MOVIE CLAIMS WOLVES ARE THRIVING BUT GIVES TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT NUMBERS ABOUT HOW MANY THEY FOUND, DISPUTING EACH OTHER COMPLETELY
The announcer says that about 300 radioactively contaminated wolves are estimated to live inside the exclusion zone around Chernobyl (This number is disputed by the actual professor at the end, who says there are no more than 120). So much for accuracy and scientific analysis. This is a guess, we guess. Again, wolves are at the top of the food chain, so they would concentrate the most radiation, but this is also not mentioned, nor do they give an actual radiation measurement, in Bq/kg for example.
In the Telegraph article, a REAL researcher says that the wolves are not thriving around Chernobyl. For more on this click on the link. He also looked at the other animals and found that they too, were suffering severely and NOT THRIVING due to the hormesis effect.
“The insects that they feed on are suffering, too. In the most contaminated areas, there are fewer butterflies, bumblebees, grasshoppers, dragonflies and spiders. ‘The fact that insects, including pollinators, are sensitive to elevated contaminants has a significant impact on the rest of the ecosystem,’ says Prof Mousseau. …”
THESE SUPPOSEDLY HEALTHY WOLVES ARE SO RADIOACTIVE, THEY HAVE TO WEAR MASKS AND GLOVES TO GET NEAR THEM, AND ONE HAIR INGESTED IS DEADLY
In this PBS movie, they explain that after they trap the wolf, that the researchers have to wear masks and gloves. They mention that if they ingest any wolf hairs either by nose or mouth, they will be ‘poisoned’ to death, by the intense radiation found in just one hair from the wolf. This sounds quite dramatic, but gives no useful information. What was the amount of radiation in one hair; 1 million bq/kg? What amount of radiation in a single hair would poison someone if they ingested it?
Again, there is no mention of the amount of radiation they found in or on the wolf, or how one wolf hair would 'poison' them. Too bad, because this was ANOTHER excellent opportunity to educate the public about the dangers of low level radiation. How and why is one radioactive wolf hair going to poison and kill someone? And how does the wolf look so 'healthy', when just one hair from it will kill a healthy adult human?
The lack of reporting about any useful information about radiation and the danger it poses makes the movie a little entertaining, but not at all scientific, informative or educational.
RESEARCHERS ARE SURE THAT A BISON CALF DIED OF THE COLD, DESPITE WOLVES EATING IT AND NOTHING LEFT TO FIGURE OUT WHAT CAUSED ITS DEATH; WHY DIDN'T IT DIE OF RADIATION POISONING IN THIS RADIOACTIVE DEATH ZONE?
In Section three of the movie, they focus on a bison calf that died, which the wolves discovered and ate. The announcer says the calf died of the cold. How do they know that? Why would a calf just die of cold, when it is living in the most radioactive contaminated zone in the world? Would radiation not have potentially at least A LITTLE to do with this death, and possibly many others? Why didn't they test it for radiation levels?
Wouldn't it make MUCH MORE sense that this and many other animals died of radiation poisoning, or that it died of a genetic defect caused by living in such a highly radioactive environment? The birth defect rate of humans living in contaminated areas of Belarus much further away is over 95%, but no link is drawn between something like this and the animals living in a much more highly contaminated radiation zone. Is anyone even paying attention to the death rate of young animals in this area compared to non contaminated zones?
Again, an opportunity existed to educate the public about the dangers of radiation, but is lost once again by dismissing radiation as the cause of ANY animal deaths. They never bother to take any tissue samples or measure ANYTHING at all. A meaningless and useless claim is made, with NO EVIDENCE to back it up.
HORMESIS THEORY IS PROMOTED THROUGH THE WHOLE MOVIE; DESPITE MASSIVE RADIATION POISONING IN ALL ANIMALS TESTED, THEY SAY THAT THESE ANIMALS ARE 'HEALTHY', BUT WITH NO EVIDENCE PROVING ANY OF THIS OUTRAGEOUS AND UNSCIENTIFIC CLAIM
The assumption made by viewers is that ALL animals in the zone must be healthy, which is an absolute pro nuclear industry deception, falsehood and lie. By saying this in the way they say it, they make it seem like this exclusion zone is normal, healthy and/or safe to live in for animals, plants and people. The assumption made by the average movie watcher is that radiation is actually HELPING the animals and good for them somehow, which is a bunch of pro nuclear industry propaganda, nothing more.
When they say in this same section that the wolves do not have to hunt anymore, what do they mean? When they say there are a large numbers of wolves, and that means that they must be in 'robust' health, how did they reach that conclusion?
HOW CAN ONE SINGLE WOLF HAIR POISON RESEARCHERS TO DEATH, BUT AT THE SAME TIME, THE WOLVES ARE IN ROBUST HEALTH? THIS IS A NONSENSICAL CLAIM WITHOUT ANY MERIT AT ALL, TO ANYONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO THINK CRITICALLY
How can ONE wolf hair 'poison' researchers, but at the same time, all of these wolves are in 'robust' health? This does not make any sense, and shows how ignorant the announcer of this program is about the negative health effects of low level radiation. Either that, or this announcer is trying to mislead the viewers completely. This same kind of thinking is how the nuclear industry gets away with genocide, all around the world...
HOW CAN RESEARCHERS BE LIMITED IN THEIR TIME IN THIS ZONE FOR 'SAFETY' REASONS, BUT ANIMALS CAN THRIVE BY SPENDING THEIR WHOLE LIVES THERE?
The announcer says that the Russian and German researchers are given only a 'limited' time in the radioactive exclusion zone, to keep their exposure to radiation down to 'safe' levels. How can that be true and then NOT be true for the wolves and other animals?
However, the announcer says wolf cubs are 'thriving' while living in this highly radioactive environment FULL TIME. So how can humans be in danger of negative health effects, while only visiting briefly, and at the same time, wolves living in this death zone are 'thriving'? Again, this makes no logical sense unless you are trying to promote the hormesis theory, without actually saying the word. Is the announcer claiming that massive amounts of radiation are good for animals, but small amounts are dangerous for humans, or what?
HORMESIS PROMOTERS CLAIM ALL RADIATION IS GOOD FOR YOU, AND EVERYONE NEEDS MORE OF IT
The truth is either one way or the other. You cannot have it both ways. Research shows that animals and humans do not 'adapt' genetically to radiation exposure. Animals, just like humans, do not 'thrive' in radiation soaked environments. Genetically, animals and humans are damaged more and more with each generation if they live there, but no mention is made of this basic medical and scientific fact.
The hormesis promoting apologists want everyone and everything soaked in more and more radiation in order to improve health. They ignore the awful negative impact to health and the environment of heavy metal poisons that are also radioactive.
RESEARCHER MAKES FALSE CLAIM THAT NOTHING CAN BE LEARNED BY STUDYING INDIVIDUAL ANIMALS; TOTALLY THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT A TRUE SCIENTIST WOULD SAY
Then the announcer says that low level radiation negative health effects are difficult to measure or find in either animals, rats, wolves or humans. They claim that they can learn NOTHING by examining individual animals. They can learn something only by looking at the overall population.
This is a patently absurd claim, totally devoid of any truth. Much can be learned by examining DNA structures of any individual animal. Much can be learned by doing individual animal radiation damage analysis and measurements of individual man made radioactive elements in different parts of an animals body. But the nuclear industry does not want this to happen, and will not pay for this research, because they KNOW what the researchers will find.
This claim sounds like something Galen would say.. If the radiation does not kill you right away, then it is good for you. Total nonsense, but for someone who knows nothing about radiation, it sounds believable.
Scientists and medical researchers can and have learned a lot by doing animal autopsies and/or internal radiation measurements with whole body internal radiation scanners. They can learn a lot by taking tissue samples, and internal radiation measurements of individual animals. Again, this claim by the announcer is NOT scientific, just pure speculation and propaganda spoken by someone that sounds like an idiot who knows nothing about radiation or how to measure it. Once again, we have pure falsehoods being spewed by either an ignorant person, or someone who is TRYING hard to mislead people and spout propaganda designed to deceive people into believing that radiation is somehow good for animals and maybe even for people.
None of these things are true that the announcer is claiming. How did they come up with this rationale, which is not scientific, nor logical? This announcers conclusion makes absolutely no sense at all.
Why were so many INDIVIDUAL tests done on unwilling human subjects, if nothing can be learned from this method?
CLAIMS ABOUT MICE BEING IN BETTER HEALTH THAN THOSE OUTSIDE OF THE DEATH ZONE ARE TOTALLY BOGUS, AND UNSCIENTIFIC AS WELL
In an area that is only a mile from the Chernobyl reactor, the announcer says the researchers 'have to wear masks', due to dust and windy conditions that stir up hazardous radiation, which is true. Then they enter into an area where the whole forest was killed by radiation, and then it was bulldozed underground, because it was that dangerous. The researchers are studying mice in this area, which they say is STILL highly contaminated and radioactive.
The door mice that they are studying are in the Red Forest, which is now green again. A six year study found that out of all door mice that they find, only 4 - 6% of them have 'slight' 'abnormalities'. They say this is 'twice' the level of 'clean' areas. Of course, one would expect to find a higher level of mutations and genetic diseases when living in a fallout zone, so this is scientific, but the conclusion is not. The conclusion makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever.
RESEARCHER CLAIMS THAT ANIMALS ARE REPRODUCING BETTER IN FALLOUT DEATH ZONE THAN IN CLEAN AREAS, DISPUTING ALL TRUE SCIENTIFIC STUDIES ON THIS SUBJECT, AND WITH NO EVIDENCE OFFERED OTHER THAN HIS WORD
They also CLAIM that the door mouse reproduction and number of mice are 'better' than in clean areas. The announcer is concluding that all other animals in the exclusion have similar effects as these door mice. Are these mice being raised in a bulldozed area where all radioactive soil was removed? Are they bringing in clean, vitamin enriched food for them to eat? No Geiger Counter or internal whole body radiation measurements were taken of either the soil, what they were eating, or of the mice.
Again, there is no mention of actual radiation amounts in the mice, or any other animals, what types of radiation they are finding or if they are even measuring anything except for checking on numbers of mice in a nesting box once in awhile, in a possibly artificially cleaned up area. Lots of useless information is presented again, with no REAL scientific information.
FALCON AND CHICKS ARE DECLARED 'HEALTHY', JUST BY OBSERVATION ALONE, WITH NO SCIENTIFIC BASIS FOR THIS CLAIM
In section four, a 'researcher' observes and counts the number of chicks in ONE falcon nest. He concludes that they are 'healthy'. Again, there is absolutely no mention of radiation levels and no Geiger Counter or other internal body radiation measurement is taken in any way. Not even feather samples are taken. This is not research, at least not scientific research. It is like a tourist is visiting the area and watching the animals, nothing more.
NO genetic tests are being done on any of these animals, because they do not believe in testing individual animals, which is beyond absurd. How can one study ANYTHING without testing individuals involved? The whole concept of not testing individuals is patently absurd, and makes this charade of a scientific enterprise nothing more than pro nuclear propaganda.
Compare this propaganda to a real scientific researcher and what he found...
In any medical health study that tests the effect of anything on a population, it is critically important to test each individual and their state of health, before, during and after the study period, and correlate it to a control group that is not affected by whatever the focus of the study is, whether that is a drug, radiation effects, or a vitamin. If individuals are NOT tested in various ways that measure actual HEALTH and body systems and then compared to a 'clean' environment and similar animals, then there is conclusion that can be drawn; NONE. Genetic tests of DNA structure is the ideal thing to look at when studying radiation damage, but these pretend scientists claim that this is not scientific.
LACK OF ANY MEANINGFUL RADIATION TESTING AND REPORTING MAKES THIS MOVIE PROPAGANDA FOR THE NUCLEAR INDUSTRY, NOTHING MORE
The lack of radiation measurements at this point is becoming ridiculously apparent, making the whole movie seem like a staged stunt, designed to promote tourism of this intensely contaminated radiation zone, which is actually a very definite and dangerous hazard to health, but they fail to mention that.
Why not build a hotel in this area and bring in the tourists, if everything is so 'safe' and 'healthy'? Why not catch some fish out of the cooling pond next to the reactor and serve them in the hotel restaurant, along with some bison meat?
Why not issue licenses to hunters and let them shoot some of these wolves and they can make some wolf fur jackets for trophies? Why not make pets of the wolves and let people take them home? (Again, this is sarcasm, but this radiation zone tourism is actually being done, and AGRP strongly advises everyone against doing this.)

There is absolutely NO mention of any health effects from the high doses of radiation that are inside of all of these animals that these wolves are obviously consuming. This is misleading at best and totally deceptive pro nuclear propaganda at worst.
No one is doing any internal radiation measurements of anything. No one is doing autopsies of animals that do die in this area, or so it seems. This is not science, but rather more like a promotion stunt for establishment of more 'exclusion zone' Nature preserves and tourism businesses for these areas.
GIANT CATFISH ARE REPORTED ON, BUT THEY DON'T EVEN MENTION GIGANTISM, WHICH IS A KNOWN CONSEQUENCE OF RADIATION EXPOSURE
Then they mention giant catfish, which are eight feet long in a cooling pool next to the Chernobyl reactor. The announcer concludes absolutely that the large size of the fish is due to their age, and has absolutely nothing to do with radioactivity. How does he know FOR SURE? Gigantism is a sign of radiation poisoning, in both humans and animals. Drawing a conclusion like this without testing individual animals is not science, but guess work or at worst, pro nuclear propaganda so that the nuclear industry will look good because radiation has no effect on any fish, which is a patent lie and deception.
FISH BONES ARE SO RADIOACTIVE, THAT THEY CANNOT BE TOUCHED, BUT SOMEHOW THE BIRDS EATING THESE HIGHLY RADIOACTIVE FISH ARE DECLARED HEALTHY, WITH NO TESTING AT ALL
Yet, in the very next scene, they are measuring fish bones from the very same pool, from the very same fish near the Chernobyl reactor, where those 'healthy' falcons and hawks dragged them out and ate their flesh.
When they go near the fish bones, the radiation meters go crazy, with the alarms beeping like mad, as the researchers bring them near to the bones, and the announcer says; "These fish bones should not be touched with bare hands. What this contamination does to the eagles is still NOT KNOWN". Of course they do not KNOW, because they are not testing for INTERNAL radiation amounts in ANYTHING and they are not looking at the damage that even low doses of radiation cause to DNA.
Even a very amateur Geiger counter that they have is alarming just from the EXTERNAL radiation on those bones, which means that they are screaming hot and dangerous to even be near, probably from radioactive strontium. No one in their right minds would consider eating those fish.
PBS: MUTATED CATFISH ARE USED TO PROMOTE TOURISM TO THE AREA, DESPITE IT BEING A DEADLY, TOXIC, HAZARDOUS WASTE ZONE, NOT FIT FOR ANY LIVING CREATURE TO BE IN
(In this short non PBS video, a 'radiation zone tourist guide' talks about the catfish and touches them. He invites tourists to come to this highly radiation contaminated zone, with no knowledge or warnings of the dangers that they are putting themselves in from invisible radioactive heavy metal poisons and 'hot' radioactive particles.
This short video and others like it, build on the PBS video, making it seem like any radioactive contaminated area is a 'clean' and vibrantly health Nature preserve, that all tourists should visit and possibly even live there.
(AGRP strongly recommends staying far away from these ignorant and misleading pro nuclear propagandists and any area that has been contaminated with even low doses of radiation, due to the EXTREME health dangers. Instead of doing education about the dangers of radiation, these pro nuclear apologists AND PBS are doing the opposite, misleading people and denying the dangers of radiation, thus causing harm and deaths.)
RESEARCHERS IN THIS DEATH ZONE ARE PRETENDING TO RESEARCH THINGS, BUT NOT REALLY, BECAUSE THE RESEARCH HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE AND IT IS OUT THERE
The only reason that the effects of radiation on animals in the exclusion zone are not KNOWN by these specific researchers, is because they are not researching that subject. Purposefully avoiding researching something makes it seem like a mystery, that is unknowable. Why bother finding out, when it is a mystery that is unsolvable? This is pro nuclear propaganda. It is easy to find out what the effects of low dose radiation are on both animals and humans, and that research has been done and the conclusions are there for anyone who is interested to see.
CHERNOBYL AND FUKUSHIMA MUTATIONS, CAUSED BY LOW DOSE RADIATION
Radiation at low or high levels is going to negatively affect health of animals or humans that eat it, and result in mutations that are not positive, pure and simple, as shown in the above video. There is no mystery here.. They are just avoiding the whole subject of the negative health effects and mutations caused by radiation in this movie, PERIOD. At this point, AGRP can SAFELY conclude this movie is pure propaganda rubbish for the promotion of the nuclear industry, and nothing more.

Then the researchers go down the river, while making the claim that the river downstream of the Pripiat, where it meets a larger river, then make the claim that it is "all clear of radiation", and "the fish are all safe to eat, even by humans".
They offer no proof, just pro nuclear industry boasts and empty promises, with no proof to back up these claims. Of course, they test nothing to confirm this empty claim, which again, leads one to believe that this is pro nuclear industry propaganda.

Again, no actual fish are shown, no INTERNAL radiation measurements are taken of fish or of people who are choosing to live in this area and eat local radiation contaminated food. No health studies of the human or fish population are done or offered as proof. There are just lots of empty boasts and claims, which sound completely ridiculous to anyone who actually knows anything about how radiation works and concentrates up the food chain into humans.
The announcer stated in the beginning of the show, that the Pripiat river still carries radiation downstream from the Chernobyl contaminated exclusion zone, where it floods twenty mile across farmland areas. This is true, as any river would carry radiation and spread it around from the forest, with mechanisms such as radiation contaminated leaves and soil going downstream. A flooding river would do the same thing, and probably spread even more radiation around as it reached more intense 'hot' spots of radiation.
How can both things be true at the same time? How can the radiation contaminated river Pripiat flood highly radioactive areas without carrying that radiation to non radiation contaminated areas? How can a river NOT carry radiation from those contaminated areas downstream, thus contaminating other flooded areas downstream? How can this highly radioactive water then flow downstream, while magically getting clean and radiation free again, while not affecting anyone or anything downstream, such as fish? Again this makes absolutely no logical sense and makes the whole movie seem stupid and pure pro nuclear industry propaganda.
Are they trying to promote the nuclear industry by making these toxic waste zones with very high radiation zones seem inviting, healthy, safe and friendly and get tourists to visit?
A HORSE OF A DECEPTION, IS STILL A DECEPTION
In the final segment the announcer glowingly exclaims how wonderful the endangered species of horses are in this exclusion zone, and that they are quickly breeding and recovering remarkably. He blames 'poachers' for cutting their numbers from the 300 they 'expected' to have by this time, down to the 60 that actually exist now. How does he know what killed these horses? What if radiation killed the foals? What if they young foals were aborted or stillborn? This is normally what happens in highly radioactive zones like this.
They don't offer any evidence that 'poachers' are the ones to blame for killing (and eating) all of these wonderfully healthy, but highly radioactive horses. It should be obvious to anyone who is a REAL researcher that this same thing happened with the wolves, and the birds; they are all there in reduced numbers from what one would expect. Research has shown that radiation affects populations of both animals and humans by reducing their numbers in various ways, but this movie refuses to go anywhere near anything negative about radiation.
Instead, the movie makes the empty claim that radiation is actually helping these poor radiation soaked horses somehow. These horses are wandering around in a highly toxic, radioactive exclusion zone where people are not even allowed in. Why would people dare to eat highly radioactive horse meat anyway? Are poor people really that desperate for either money or food?

It is also possible that the wolves are taking out all of the sick, genetically deformed and weak horses, who are most affected by the radiation. But no, the announcer is ABSOLUTELY sure that the wolves do not prey on these cute horses... It ABSOLUTELY must be the evil poachers. Again, no proof is offered, but lots of empty pro nuclear industry and pro radiation health claims are made.
SUMMARY OF RESEARCH ON WOLF STUDIES COMES TO TWO TOTALLY OPPOSING CONCLUSIONS, TAKE YOUR PICK WHAT YOU WANT TO BELIEVE; PBS PRO NUCLEAR PROPAGANDA OR ACTUAL SCIENTIST
The program ends by summarizing what the researchers are studying, which consists of counting the wolves and their pups and estimating their 'survival' rate, compared to 'clean' areas of equal size. This is a good start on scientific research, but it must be combined with actual individual health/genetic studies and internal radiation measurements, so that valid scientific conclusions can be drawn.
The Russian professor concludes that in a clean area that has the same area as the Chernobyl exclusion zone, he would expect about 300 wolves. However, he could not count more than around 120 wolves in this same amount of land around the Chernobyl meltdown site. Well, that's a good start. Why are there less wolves in the same area of a a radiation contaminated zone, when compared to a 'clean' area? Hmmmm? Could that have anything to do with exposure to low dose radiation? Again, this movie does not go there, but concludes that radiation is not the cause of the low numbers of animals found.
Then the PBS announcer says that there are just as many wolves in Chernobyl, as in a clean area of the same size. How can he come to this illogical conclusion, when the professor just said the opposite of that? The announcer makes it sound like this Chernobyl exclusion zone is a wolf resort area, full of healthy, happy wolves, galloping healthy horses, and abundant populations of birds who just love this area. He sounds like a person who cannot wait to sunbathe and swim in the 'clean' Pripiat River, while fishing for all of these healthy fish and then eating them. Why doesn't he eat some of those radiation soaked fish from the pool by the Chernobyl plant? (Again, don't do this, because it may result in your death!)
THIS PBS MOVIE IS A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT; VERY LITTLE SCIENCE, AND A LOT OF PRO NUCLEAR PROPAGANDA
This movie, though interesting visually, is a HUGE disappointment. It contains absolutely no scientific or useful information, other than glowing testimonials about how safe radiation exclusion zones are for animals, and presumably for humans too.. Please note that there are no humans living in this area.. Why not, if it is so healthy and safe? If it is so good for the animals, why would it not be healthy and safe for humans?
This movie is a lot like the movie Pandora's Promise...
WHY ISN'T THE PBS HOST HIRED AS A TOUR GUIDE AND HOTEL KEEPER FOR THIS DEATH ZONE? HE IS PROMOTING IT HOT AND HEAVY AS A PLACE WHERE ANIMALS AND PEOPLE SHOULD LIVE AND THRIVE IN
Why aren't these scientists hired as tour guides and set up a hotel inside the Chernobyl reactor, and then live there full time, serving some of this wild horse meat and 8 foot long catfish from the nuclear plant cooling pond for dinner to the tourists who would come flocking to such an exotic tourist 'destination resort'? (Again, this is sarcasm, and should not be done, because it is extremely hazardous to your health.)
Again, all of this makes absolutely no logical sense, nor does it have any scientific merit, but it sounds good and makes the nuclear industry look like something desirable to have around, so they can have more nuclear 'accidents' and create more 'Nature' zones, where wolves, birds and horses can have their Garden of Eden and the hormesis theory can be proven to work...

Our take on this whole movie is that it was directly financed by the nuclear industry or by someone who wants to promote the theory of hormesis, despite the clear evidence to the contrary. This movie in the opinion of AGRP puts a deceptive spin on a deadly truth, which is totally covered up in this movie.

First of all, the movie is rated as a D - in terms of providing accurate scientific information about man made ionizing radiation and it's effect on animals, insects and plants.

First of all, the movie is rated as a D - in terms of providing accurate scientific information about man made ionizing radiation and it's effect on animals, insects and plants.
Bottom line, to find out the truth about nuclear radiation, the public is much better off avoiding the this movie, and the entire PBS site. By sponsoring and spreading this movie around, PBS is misleading the public with pro nuclear propaganda that has nothing to do with actual real life radiation results and studies by medical and other truly scientific researchers.
With this badly made movie, PBS is responsible for harming people and spreading false information around. Quite possibly, they may be responsible for some low dose radiation caused diseases, DNA damage, cancers, and/or deaths due to radiation zone tourists visiting this area. They may even be opening themselves up to a host of lawsuits, when these tourists end up with radiation caused diseases down the road a few years.
Any radiation contaminated area should be avoided. Radiation soaked animals are suffering from heavy metal radioactive poison, nothing more. PBS is making a huge mistake by airing pro nuclear propaganda like this to the public. They are opening themselves up to lawsuits from people relying on this information, going to the exclusion zone and then inhaling or ingesting a hot particle, which can cause Big C, or some other disease.
